I’ve always had a fascination with things that glow in the dark, whether those glow-in-the-dark stars, creatures of the deep sea, or lightening bugs (as we would call them in Virginia). You’ve got to admit, there is something inherently cool about being able to produce your own source of light! Perhaps it is our fear of the dark, or maybe it’s a subconscious reflection of some higher power that attracts the human eye towards things that glow. I know that as a child I was always drawn towards lightening bugs, and would spend sweltering Summer nights galomphing around pastures in a wild attempt to catch as many as I could. I suppose that’s one of the few things I really miss about Virginia, there are no fireflies here in Boise–or at least–I haven’t seen them!
